After the Depression and three years in the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II, the author spent fifty years teaching languages and literature from the junior high school to the university level. The rest of his time, he writes, "was spent making love, raising kids, traveling, writing serious stuff, playing golf, and pestering my wife. As I now can no longer make love, travel, or play golf, as my kids are now raising their own kids, and as I'm tired of writing serious stuff, all I have left to do is pester my wife, which is not as much fun as it used to be. So what can I do now? I finally figured it out: laugh! And voila! A small, I hope funny, book, which is easier for a geezer like me to do than a big one and lets me take more naps.

In this small book the author has compiled some of the things that made him laugh over a lifetime, such as limericks and playing with proverbs and hoary stories. It has been put together in this easy to read little librito (the Spanish for the Italian libretto), "for people who don't have much time to read big books in an age of computers with their web blogs, electronic games, and porn sites."
