Can’t Play Golf Anymore?

Then Laugh Instead

Foreword

After the Depression and three years in the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II, I spent ffty years teaching languages and literatures from the junior high school to the university level. The rest of my time was spent making love, raising kids, traveling, writing serious stuff, playing golf, and pestering my wife. As I now can no longer make love, travel, or play golf, as my kids are now raising their own kids, and as I’m tired of writing serious stuff, all I have left to do is pester my wife, which is not as much fun as it used to be.

So what can I do now? I fnally fgured it out: laugh! And voilà! A small, I hope funny, book, which is easier for a geezer like me to do than a big one and lets me take more naps.

In this small book I have compiled some of the things that make me laugh, such as limericks and playing with proverbs and hoary stories. Thanks to the encouragement of friends and family, I have put some of it all together in this easy to read little
