Gene Schwartz is a writer, columnist and business consultant to independent print and on-line publishers. He is founder and Publisher of Worthy Shorts and is Editor at Large of ForeWord magazine, and a regular columnist for Book Business magazine. He is president of Consortium House, publishing consultants, and is also associated with BMR Assoc iates (management consultants), Cor te Madera, CA; and Business Marketing Consultants (mergers and acquisitions), Carlsbad, CA. He is a member of the Author’s Guild, American Printing History Association, Fine Press Book Association, PIA/GTF, Bookbuilders West, the Bookbuilders of Boston and the Bookbinders’ Guild of New York.

He has been a director and treasurer of the PMA-The Independent Book Publishers Association. He is on the advisory committee for the New York Center for Independent Publishing. For ten years he wrote a weekly column in San Diego north county, first for the Surfcomber and then for the Blade/Citizen. He is Editor of the 1244 page illustrated anthology, American Students Organize:
