Nadya Giusi
, born in San Francisco, California, in 1932, grew up in
Shanghai and Manila until World War II when her family fled the Orient and
returned to California. After receiving a degree in Liberal Arts from Syracuse
University in 1953 she lived in Rome, where she met her husband Valerio, a
Florentine. They have two daughters and five grandchildren and live in
Carmel-by-the-Sea, California.
Nadya’s work with children and families began in the early sixties. She
pioneered Montessori education on the Monterey Peninsula, establishing three
schools and a teacher training center. Since 1980, after receiving her M.A. and
MFT license to practice marriage and family therapy, Nadya has maintained a
private practice. In 2003 Nadya founded FAMILIES FOR ATTITUDINAL
HEALING, a non-judgmental educational approach fostering peace-centered
relationships in the family and in the world. As part of her outreach program
in the community, Nadya has joined the adjunct faculty at Monterey Peninsula
College where she teaches courses on the family. She has appeared frequently
on television, has had her own radio show, and is a popular guest speaker.
New Family: Mapping Your Way to the Good Stuff!
is Nadya’s first book.
