Prologue

Especially after September 11th, in today’s world, there are so many people on Prozac and antidepressants due to emptiness, terror, fear, stress. Diabetes, obesity and adultery are worse than ever

due to stress, loss, separation . We yearn to feel good like when we first fell in love . This is why all the restaurants in NewYork City now serve comfort food— we need comfort now more than ever! So we need to create passion after the honeymoon wears off . I have found ways to help patients and partners rev those hormones, to balance those endorphins, to sustain love, and maintain that high.

Love is a conscious decision after the hormones die down . Desire and sex becomes conscious after the hormones die down, so we have to create the desire with our own partner.

Trick yourself into the feelings and memories from the “honey-moon” and “act as if ” until the brain chemicals catch up . Exercises using “attachment skills” will entice those cuddle hormones, such as 30 second kisses, daily snuggling twice a day, dancing cheek to cheek, kissing hello and goodbye, and good morning.
