Even when both conditions appear to be met, Boards and their manage-
ments should consider giving themselves a period of reflection (i.e., a
cooling off period), preferably one to two weeks after the euphoria of
having approved the final version of the strategic plan has subsided. They
should do this to assure themselves
one final time
that the strategy really
meets the two tests of strategic greatness.
