I write this book, the historic demographic shift is that for the first
time, in 2012, the total number of births from racial and ethnic
minorities have surpassed the total number of births of whites in the
United States.
“This is an important landmark,” said Roderick Harrison, a for-
mer chief of racial statistics at the Bureau of the Census who is
now a sociologist at Howard University, in an article published by
the
Huffington Post
. “This generation is growing up much more
accustomed to diversity than its elders.”
