In this short story, a grown son reflects on his father's last and liberating final days. The author takes us to the edge of the Catskill creek and its teeming natural life in which his father fished for fifty years. He imagines the old man's thoughts and a life fully lived - a life of which he intended to be in charge until its last moments. Woodstock, NY resident, naturalist and writer, Peter Koch was awarded for this story a scholarship to the Vermont-based Wild branch Workshop in Outdoor, Natural History and Environmental Writing. This story was brought to Worthy Shorts by the sponsor of Red Friday (WS101) a short story by his father, Howard Koch. She in turn learned of it in the course of a conversation with Howard Koch's widow.

Design template: This classic design treatment uses the same template as that for WS101, using a rich blue instead of a red cover. Keepsakes with less than 80 pages are too thin to print type on the spine. Instead, a "faux spine" runs vertically just to the left of the fold on the back cover.
